IN LOVING MEMORY
Bent Davies
October 8, 1925 — January 20, 2018

Bent Davies, 92, passed away peacefully in the early morning of January 20th, 2018 surrounded by his family after living a very adventurous and full life. Bent was the only child born to his parents Bent Davies and Ethel Wright Davies on October 8, 1925. Bent grew up in Los Angeles, California. He attended L.A. High until the tenth grade when he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II until honorably discharged in 1946, at which time he completed high school at Veterans High School. Following graduation, he enrolled at the University of Southern California majoring in Physical Education. He received his BS and California Teachers Credential in 1953. Bent taught high school for the LA City School system until he retired in 1985.

In 1951 Bent married Margaret Adele Martin who taught for Torrance Unified School District. They resided in the South Bay cities of Manhattan Beach, Rolling Hills Estates, and San Pedro. Together, they raised two sons, traveled the globe, golfed, became life-long Trojans, and supported community youth programs through the YMCA. Bent will be greatly missed by many friends and most especially by the family he leaves behind: His wife of 66 years, Margaret Davies, his sons, Chuck (Gwen) and Walter (Liz) and their beloved grandchildren Kyle (Evie), Bryan, Alyson, and Tyler.

A celebration of Bent’s life will be held at Green Hills, 27501 South Western Avenue in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. (Time and date pending) Burial will follow the funeral at Green Hills Cemetery. In reverence to Bent’s zest for fun and team spirit, dress casually or in his favorite USC apparel. NO SUITS OR TIES PLEASE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the San Pedro Peninsula YMCA or your favorite charity in his honor. Condolences may be left on Bent Davies’ online guest book at greenhillsmortuary.com
