Dinner Meeting at The Galen Center
The Trojan Coaches Club kickoff our Winter Meeting by getting an “Insider’s Look” at the Men’s Basketball Practice. Coach O’Neill ran a couple of special drills for us to witness and we even got a surprise visit from Athletic Director Mike Garrett. From there, we enjoyed cocktails and dinner at the Galen Center concourse, with a beautiful view of the downtown skyline and above the basketball court. It was an outstanding venue!
Basketball was the theme of this evening’s meeting. We had the two new leaders of our basketball programs in the same room to reassure our confidence that the Trojans will be well represented into the future. Men’s Basketball Coach Kevin O’Neill talked about why he came to USC and where he plans to take our program. Women of Troy Coach Michael Cooper loosen his tie and took off his coat and became very relaxed and downright comical as he plans to emphasize defense and bring alittle “Showtime” to Galen Center. All the attendees were very excited to meet these two great leaders and very confident that they will be able to lead our basketball programs back to glory.
It wouldn’t be a TCC Meeting without talking about Football. We got the brutally honest truth from ESPN Analyst and Former USC Fullback Brandon Hancock. He gave us his insider’s opinion of where the USC Football Program is at, and where he thinks it is going. He also talked stories about his playing days, which was fun to hear about. IT’S ALWAYS GREAT TO BE A TROJAN!!!
Because we made a commitment to Coach Cooper at the meeting, and the fact that we should support all sports at USC, we will be having a TROJAN COACHES CLUB /WOMEN’S BASKETBALL GAME on Sunday January 17th vs ucla @ 2:30pm at the Galen Center. If you are interested in group seating with us, please email trojancoachesclub@gmail.com with questions and reservations.
Thank you to all for supporting the TCC and helping us make these great meetings a reality. We look forward to planning another great meeting in the Spring, so make sure you become a member and join our email list for upcoming information.

Dinner Meeting at The Rose Bowl
We had a great meeting at the Rose Bowl on August 26th, as we kickoff the USC football season where we expect to be on January 7th, 2010….the home of the BCS National Championship Game. Thank you to everyone that attended and if you weren’t there, you missed another GREAT meeting! Click here for a photo slide show.
We all checked in under the famous neon marquee Rose Bowl sign in the Court of Champions. There we saw the names of 31 USC Rose Bowl MVP of the Game Award Winners and 19 USC members of the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame. From there, we began our tour of the press box and then walked onto the perfectly manicured grass field. Then we walked into the tunnel and into the same locker room that our boys will be in at the end of the season. The 22 million dollars of renovations were beautifully obvious, especially in the gigantic quarter field sized locker room. We had plenty of room to relax and socialize over drinks and a great prime rib and chicken dinner buffet.
The meeting started off with 2002 Tournament of Roses President Ron Okum talking about the what to expect for the upcoming Rose Bowl and BCS National Championship Game. He was followed by reporter Chuck Haye’s interview of 1972 USC National Championship Player Dave Brown’s stories and recollections from his days in wearing the Trojan uniform. Then we wrapped things up with ESPN’s “USC Gameday” host Harvey Hyde’s analysis
of this year’s football team and life anecdotes.
Overall, it was a GREAT VENUE with GREAT GUEST SPEAKERS and GREAT FOOD. We received comments that it was the best Trojan Coaches Club Meeting EVER. We just wanted to thank all the members and guest that attended. It is because of you that we continue to set are goals high and try to bring you the best value for your time and money. Thank you for all your support.
Keep your calendars open for early December as we are in the process of planning our Winter Meeting.

Dinner Meeting at USC
The Trojan Coaches Club enjoyed a great evening of baseball and football at our Spring Dinner Meeting. Early bird members watch our football team practice from Dedeaux Field Stadium before taking a tour of the Baseball Hall of Fame and the new Rod Dedeaux Research Baseball Institute (RDRBI).
We had a great set up for dinner at the RDRBI, where we had nearly 100 members and guest enjoy an evening of Trojan Baseball. We paid tribute to legendary Coach Rod Dedeaux with his two sons Terry and Justin Dedeaux in attendance. We also honored USC’s First National Championship Baseball Team from 1948. TCC Board of Director Maynard Horst and Team Captain Hank Workman, whom both played on that National Championship Team, relived memories of Coach Dedeaux and that Championship Year. Eight members of that squad of 19 were in attendance.
From the past to the present, we heard from Head Coach Chad Kreuter and Pitching Coach Tom House and we were very excited to hear about the future direction of USC Baseball. The evening was wrapped up with comments and answers about USC Football from WeAreSC and ESPN Analyst Gary Paskweitz.
It was another great meeting and we would like to thank the members of the Trojan Coaches Club for making it happen. Thanks for all your support and we look forward to our next meeting!

The Board of Directors of The Trojan Coaches Club
At the Galen Center
The Trojan Coaches Club had a great Winter dinner meeting with All-Star Guest Speakers Tim Floyd, Tom Kelly and the 1964 Championship Football Team. The members gathered together early to catch an exclusive look at the end of a USC Basketball Practice. That was followed by Coach Floyd speaking and answering questions for our crowd about the upcoming season. We enjoyed a great dinner of steak and chicken buffet in the newly decorated Hall of Fame Corridor at Galen Center, surrounded by trophies, pictures, stories, and memories of great Trojan teams from the past. That was followed by another legendary Trojan Announcer Tom Kelly, who shared stories about some of his memories from the 1964 Championship Football Team, and a tribute to the Great Craig Fertig.
With over 100 members attending the event, it was a great turnout and we raised enough money to present donations to both the Ryan Francis Scholarship Endowment and the Craig Fertig Memorial Scholarship Fund. GREAT JOB TROJAN COACHES CLUB MEMBERS!! Have a great holiday season and see you at the ROSE BOWL!!
